Geomorphology Lab

The Geomorphology Research Group at LSU is interested in the erosional and depositional processes that shape Earth’s various landscapes, how landscapes evolve through time, and how humans interact and alter Earth’s physical and ecological systems. Within the group, research interests are broad, but generally fall into three main sub-disciplines: (1) Coastal and Aeolian Landscapes, (2) Fluvial Landscapes and Watershed Processes, and (3) Human Interactions with the Environment and Environmental Conservation. Our group utilizes cutting-edge technologies to obtain high-resolution field measurements of wind and water velocities and topographic/bathymetric surveys, and incorporate these data into morphodynamics models to better understanding the complex processes responsible for the origin and evolution of landscapes.
