Swine Palace is Dedicated to Equity

We stand beside the Black community in calling for an end to the systemic racism that has led to the killings of American citizens including George Floyd, Alton Sterling, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and countless others; the health inequities that resulted in the horrific toll the coronavirus has had on the lives of Black and brown communities in our nation; and the many injustices that continue to deny people of color access to the most basic freedoms of American life.

Theatre at its most powerful bears witness to the realities of the human condition to serve as a call to action for our communities. As theatre artists and educators, we must also heed that call to action and examine our own organization to work toward embodying the ideals that we embrace. It is only by revolutionizing our own institution that we can begin to revolutionize our society to end systemic injustice in our country.

We pledge to stand up and take action first by acknowledging our first step is in listening, understanding and supporting the efforts of the Black and brown communities and following their lead in determining the right path for our organization.
