Dear Colleagues,

The 2022 annual review assessment has launched in Elements and is now available in the MY ACTIONS section of your Elements homepage. Faculty can access their Elements profile using their MyLSU credentials on LSU’s Elements website or under the Instructional Support link in MyLSU. Faculty should complete the activity report portion of the annual review assessment and submit it to their unit leader by Friday, March 3.

We recognize the Elements platform is new to many of you, so we are providing several resources to assist you in completing the annual report. Mallory Danzy, program manager in the Office of Academic Affairs, will be hosting in-person and virtual trainings on “Completing Your Faculty Activity Report in Elements”. We encourage you to register for one of these trainings. Virtual drop-in lab hours will also be available for assistance. Additionally, you can view the annual activity report guide, faculty response guide, and process flowchart on the Faculty Annual Reviews homepage.

If you need guidance on how to input your 2022 activities into your Elements profile, please refer to the Managing your LSU Elements Profile webpage. The LSU Libraries is also offering assistance with importing scholarly publications to your profile and making ORCID connections that will keep them up to date, thus ensuring the accuracy of your scholarly record. Email orcid@lsu.edu to request assistance. If you have questions pertaining to Elements and the 2022 annual review process, please contact elements@lsu.edu or call Mallory Danzy at 578-1519.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR INDIVIDUALS REPORTING DIRECTLY TO DEANS (OR VP FOR ORED)

Individuals who report directly to a dean (i.e. Law, LSU Libraries, Mass Communication, or academic department head in departmentalized colleges) should reference this process flowchart as their reviews must be submitted directly to a dean, skipping the “unit leader” stage of review in Elements.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR VETERINARY MEDICINE

Because of the complexity of the course/lecture structure in the School of Veterinary Medicine, Vet Med faculty will utilize this annual activity form and upload it to their annual review assessment in Elements. Vet Med faculty will NOT complete the digital annual activity report form in Elements but will use the Elements platform to route the attached activity report to their unit leader for review.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE

Only those faculty in the departments of Textiles, Apparel Design, and Merchandising and Experimental Statistics should complete their annual reviews in Elements.

Dear Colleagues,

I am excited to inform you that the University’s new faculty information system, LSU Elements, and its corresponding public web profile, Discovery, have launched. Elements, the official repository for your scholarly activities, will be used to streamline LSU’s sabbatical applications, annual reviews and the promotion and tenure process. While Elements curates your activities, Discovery provides a global interface for faculty collaboration.

We invite you to explore Elements and Discovery, and more importantly, to review the data that was imported from Digital Measures. Moreover, we encourage you to link your profile to external data bases such as ORCiD, Web of Science and Dimensions in order for Elements to automatically retrieve your publications and grants.

As you begin to familiarize yourself with Elements, trainings and resources have been created and can be found on the Academic Affairs website. For questions pertaining to Elements, contact Mallory Danzy at elements@lsu.edu
