LSU has named Roland Mitchell as dean of the College of Human Sciences & Education. Mitchell is the E.B "Ted" Robert Endowed Professor and interim dean of the College of Human Sciences & Education at LSU.
Associate Professor Prosanta Chakrabarty is highly sought out due to his expertise in fish curation and his 2,500 square-foot research laboratory and collections space located in LSU’s Museum of Natural Sciences (MNS). Chakrabarty travels around the world to study the evolution and biogeography of known, newly discovered, and extinct fishes.
LSU welcomed its largest incoming class this fall 2019 semester. The incoming freshman class is the most academically accomplished in the history of LSU and boasts an average ACT of 25.42 and a grade-point average of 3.66. The class also ranks the highest in honors commits with 860 students. In addition, the class is among the most diverse ever, with a 130 percent increase in African American students and a 105 percent increase in Hispanic students.
Recently named Vice President of Research & Economic Development Samuel Bentley, Sr. met with LSU faculty members and administrators to discuss the Office of Research & Economic Development’s (ORED) mission to facilitate productive research on campus. In his presentation, he outlined a five-year plan to build sponsored research and economic development in all aspects of the scholarly enterprise.
Willis Delony and Gabriela González Named Boyd Professors, the Highest Professorial Rank Awarded by the University
The LSU Board of Supervisors unanimously voted today to award Boyd Professorships to Willis Delony, LSU Virginia Martin Howard Professor of Piano & Jazz Studies, and Gabriela González, LSU professor of physics.
The University hosted its inaugural celebration to honor LSU faculty who have been awarded promotion and/or tenure effective next academic year. The professional milestones the honorees reached signal outstanding accomplishments in teaching, research, and service for which LSU is known.

o As a relatively new staff person at LSU, I noticed a significant and reoccurring theme in messages, emails, newsletters, etc. of ADA compliance. At a School of Social Work faculty meeting last spring Dr. Wesley Church, our director, let us know of the importance of getting this initiative completed.
PM 39: Use and Acceptance of Electronic Signatures has been approved as a new policy establishing a uniform mechanism for electronic signatures for conducting university business.

The Division of Child and Family Studies within the School of Social Work has been authorized by the Board of Regents to offer the Master of Science in Child and Family Studies.
