The LSU Department of Economics is committed to excellence in teaching and research. As a service to the State of Louisiana, the LSU Department of Economics provides economic forecasts for the state and the nine metropolitan areas of the state for the current quarter and three quarters ahead.

LSU Energy Program 

The Energy Program prepares students for diverse and exciting careers in the energy industry. Housed in the Department of Economics, the Energy Program curriculum is designed to provide the broad skills and knowledge needed by the next generation of energy professionals. Students take classes that are specific to the energy sector, and have a wide range of extracurricular learning opportunities, including site visits, access to speakers in the industry, case competitions, energy conferences and expos, and industry-related internships.
