FAQs

Current Students

Current Students may schedule appointments using the Navigate Student App.  Appointments open up every Friday morning for the following week.  If you do not see availability, you may periodically check as students do cancel appointments.  If you have time sensitive questions and do not see an open appointment, please email us at science@lsu.edu or call at 225-578-4200.

Some student requests require individual appointments whereas others do not. Please consult our list of Academic Advising Services for more information.

We assist students via telephone, email, and individual appointments. Our normal hours of operation are Monday- Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If the university is closed, we are closed. In case of an unexpected closure, you can review dates of operation using the LSU Emergency Operations Center website.

Yes. The College of Science academic counselors will meet with students living in the Science Residential College. To view the availability of academic counselors in the College of Science, using the Navigate Student App.  Freshman must select "Freshmen advising" as the service requested.  Freshmen with general questions are to meet with UCFY for advising.

No. Science and math course content typically build on one another. The departments set prerequisites to confirm students have learned the content before moving to the more advanced courses. Any exceptions must be approved by the Department Faculty Advisor prior to enrolling in the course.

Yes, it is within a student's rights to submit an appeal for an exception to a University or college policy. Please review the University Regulations section of the General Catalog to review common appeals and processes. Please know, just because a student submits an appeal does not guarantee that the request will be approved. Please review the Student Responsibility on the General Catalog. If a student is requesting to appeal a college policy, it is recommended that they meet with a College of Science academic advisor prior to completing the appeals process.

Prospective Students (High School or Transfer)

Students can review the LSU Tiger Transfer Tables. This list reflects courses that have been previously evaluated by faculty at LSU for transfer equivalency. It is intended as a resource for students, but it is not a comprehensive list of all colleges or transferable courses. For more answers on transferring to LSU, please review the LSU Transfer Student Admission website

Schedule a campus tour — we would love to meet you! Once your campus tour is set, you can schedule a major specific tour with our College of Science student ambassadors.

Once you have been accepted to LSU and confirmed all transcripts have been received, incoming transfer students must register for orientation. Once registered for orientation, you can make an advising appointment with an academic counselor in our office if you have declared a major within the College of Science. You can review the LSU General Catalog for a complete list of our majors, concentrations, and admission requirements.
