The Craft and Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering is one of the leading petroleum engineering departments in the US, and offers BS, MS and PhD degrees. External funding for ongoing research includes support from state, federal and industry sources. Departmental resources to support this position include the Petroleum Engineering Research Teaching and Training Laboratory, the Chevron Reservoir Characterization Laboratory, and a variety of other experimental and computational laboratories.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent in this position will serve as instructor for a variety of undergraduate lab courses, which may include PETE 2034, PETE 4058, PETE 4059, or others. Includes conducting main lectures, lab sessions, performing or overseeing lab-report grading, conducting exams, and assigning grades. May be performed in conjunction with a course mentor or formal instructor of record depending on experience. Maintain equipment in three (3) teaching labs; develop new experiments as needed in consultation with PETE faculty. Manage student assistant(s), stocking, cleaning, and preparing labs for classes, and oversee inventory process within Patrick F Taylor Hall (PFTH.)
Minimum qualifications:
Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field. Must have 5 years of post-BSc experience as well as hands-on experience in a laboratory or the field, particularly with petrophysics or drilling/completions fluids. Experience designing and conducting laboratory experiments; knowledge of instrumentation; experience in education or professional training.
