Research Experience for Teachers
The Consortium for Innovation in Manufacturing and Materials (CIMM) Virtual Research Experience for Teachers (VRET) is a virtual teaching workshop to expose science educators to materials and manufacturing research.
Each teacher will receive a $1250 stipend.
There will be two Virtual RET programs in 2020:
1. Louisiana Tech University
The CIMM VRET is an online five-day training workshop that connects the dots from atomic level understanding to manufacturing with 3D printing. Participants will learn the fundamentals of Polymer Science and 3D printing by completing a series of course modules and having virtual demonstrations with the course instructor.
Program Dates: July 6th - July 10th
Application Deadline: June 29, 2020
2. Louisiana State University
The CIMM VRET is an online five-day training workshop on the software Solidworks. Participants will learn how to navigate Solidworks by completing a series of course modules and having daily virtual demonstrations with the course instructor. The virtual learning environment allows participants flexibility in using Solidworks and designing a print-ready 3D model.
Program Dates: July 13th - July 17th
Application Deadline: July 3, 2020
Qualifications:
- U.S. citizen/permanent resident
- Faculty at a two-year college or high school
- Desire to incorporate workshop information into future course work at home campus
- We especially seek applications from women and groups traditionally underrepresented in STEM disciplines.
