On behalf of the faculty and staff I would like to welcome you to the Flagship School of Social Work in Louisiana.
Our world-class faculty teach across five degree programs: Child and Family Studies (CFS), with a BS that includes the option of a Child Life Specialist concentration, MS, and a PhD level concentration; and Social Work, offering a BSW, MSW, and PhD in Social Work. The School of Social Work also engages in international programming and robust continuing education. Through our educational programs we dedicate ourselves to the instruction, development, and dissemination of evidence-informed knowledge to prepare highly competent, effective, and ethical professionals to serve diverse, vulnerable, and impoverished populations. Our school is aligned with various nonprofit organizations, agencies, and research centers across the state and region-- which strategically positions our faculty and students as leaders in the study and advancement of key social conditions affecting the state of Louisiana and communities across the nation. Our graduates inform the collective response to today’s critical social issues and that response impacts our work as is reflected in our academic mission, research, internship and field placements, and community outreach. For 80 years the School of Social Work at Louisiana State University has been at the forefront of producing knowledge and advocating for social justice in the region—we look forward to moving that tradition into the 21st century.
