JANICE HOLMES INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED AS SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION CAMPUS CHAMPION

Janice HolmesThe International Center for Supplemental Instruction named LSU accounting professor Janice Holmes the 2021 SI Campus Champion in recognition of her contribution and involvement within the university’s SI program.

SI Campus Champion is awarded to individuals who are not employed by the SI program but advocate for the program’s success.

Holmes has partnered with the Center for Academic Success since January 2010, serving as a faculty partner for SI Leaders and professional staff.

CAS SHOWCASES FALL 2020 ACADEMIC SUPPORT ACHIEVEMENTS

Shell Tutorial CenterLSU’s Center for Academic Success (CAS), a two-time nationally certified Learning Center of Excellence, continues to lead the way during a time of unprecedented uncertainty. The CAS Academic Support Unit, in particular, has made exciting changes to better serve students.

The CAS Academic Support Unit innovated new and improved ways to support students in their transition to remote learning via the CAS Online website. Both Supplemental Instruction and tutoring moved to online formats delivered via Zoom. Through CAS Online, students have the option to meet with Supplemental Instruction leaders and tutors remotely. Study Group sessions continue to take place in-person, using safety protocols, this semester at the Shell Tutorial Center.

CAS LAUNCHES CAS ONLINE

March 30, 2020

CAS Online ComputerThe LSU Center for Academic Success recently launched CAS Online, an online platform that provides support services for students while they transition to remote learning. Through CAS Online, students can access free CAS services and resources, no matter where they are.

 Services include online tutoring, Academic Coaching, and Supplemental Instruction.

CAS AGAIN DESIGNATED A CENTER OF EXCELLENCE

CAS Staff with NCLCA AwardLSU’s acclaimed learning center, the Center for Academic Success (CAS), has garnered another national award. The National College Learning Center Association (NCLCA) designated LSU’s CAS as one of only a few Learning Centers of Excellence in the country. NCLCA which represents more than 1,500 learning centers, supports higher education learning centers through professional development, certifications, standard-setting and awards.

LSU CAS PROMOTES PAM BALL TO ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR 

August 19, 2019

pam ballEffective August 1, 2019 Pam Ball leads the LSU Center for Academic Success’s (CAS) Office of Academic Engagement and Achievement as Associate Director. Previous to her promotion, Ball served students as an Academic Coach, Program Coordinator and Program Manager for the department since 1999. In her previous positions she was responsible for overseeing several academic programs, events and also met with students one-on-one to plan effective learning strategies and healthy habits for academic success. Prior to CAS, Ball’s professional experience included counseling, corporate training and program development.
