2019 Fierce for the Future

The Textiles, Apparel Design and Merchandising department was asked to contribute their creative talents to the LSU Foundation Capital Campaign Kick-Off Event.  The process began with students in the department's couture embellishment class creating original design motifs through a technique known as marbling.  Kelsey Parchman's design was selected to be transformed into yardage that was then cut and stitched into table runners and cloths.  These table linens graced the tables at the kick-off gala.  The students and faculty also created silk scarves and ties to be gifted to board members and donors.  The scarves and ties were hand painted and salt dyed to create unique works of wearable art.
