Victoria Bowler, President
A sophomore majoring in Mathematics with an expectant graduation date of May 2022, Victoria joined Geaux Teach because of the amazing opportunity to earn a degree in an area of her choice and a teaching certificate at the same time. Due to amazing teachers in her high school and middle school career making math interesting and engaging, she decided that this was absolutely the route she wanted to take. Victoria loves to volunteer at her old high school club helping youth make safe and nondestructive decisions and attending services at her local youth ministry!

Caleb Alexander, Vice President
A junior majoring in Mathematics and minoring in computer sciences with an expectant graduation date of May 2022, Caleb joined Geaux Teach because he wanted to share his love for math with others, and wanted to be able to teach math to the next generation. Caleb started to get interested in math during his 8th grade year, and was able to help his fellow classmates who were struggling in Algebra I. He later started to tutor in high school involving upper math courses, and was able to help his teachers with teaching lessons to his fellow classmates. He enjoys listening to music, playing videos, and watching Youtube videos during his spare time.
"As a math teacher, I want my students to not only find the solution of the problem, but to allow them to explore the problem and be able to think more critically of finding a solution with a different math concept. Math can come in many different forms we see today, and students have an opportunity to bring math into their lives.”
"You may struggle to try to teach a group the very first time, but don’t feel discouraged about it. It will take some time to grasp the concept of teaching in a classroom setting, and understand how students interact in the classroom. You can practice with your fellow GeauxTeach classmates, professors, and graduate students to get the confidence and skill needed to present your first lesson to your students.”
Daniella Strauss, Treasurer
A sophomore majoring in Mathematics with an expected graduation date of May 2022. Daniella joined Geaux Teach after finding that she really loves where students are in their education and development stage in middle school and high school. After talking with other students in the program and past teachers she had, she found that being a part of this program would give her great experience in working towards her end goal of becoming a teacher! In addition to being certified in secondary education, Daniella also is working on being certified to teach the elementary grades as well. Outside of classes, Daniella loves being able to work with kids by coaching gymnastics in the gym she grew up going to as well as being involved on campus as a Resident Assistant!

“It may be scary the first few times you go out into the field to teach students, but these experiences are so valuable and will allow you to grow. Make the most out of these opportunities by asking your mentor teachers all your questions and listening to their advice!”
Olivia Moore, Historian
A freshman majoring in Biological Sciences and a concentration in Secondary Education with an expected graduation date of May 2024. Olivia joined Geaux Teach after seeing many of her family members work as teachers her whole life. She loved the opportunity from the Geaux Teach program to major in something she’s interested in, while also being able to follow in the footsteps of the people who inspired her as teachers. Olivia enjoys spending time with her friends, attending church, and being with her family.

“With covid, the world may seem difficult and even strange, but you shouldn’t let that discourage you! Your experience as a student during these times will allow you to help students in the future and maybe even make advances in this new way of teaching and learning.”
Rebecca Warren, Secretary
A life-time lover of math, Rebecca always knew she would become a teacher one day. Now in her junior year as a Mathematics major, she is not far from living that dream. Rebecca joined Geaux Teach because she always knew she belonged in the classroom, and a program which allowed her to further her studies while also preparing her to teach others could not have been a better fit. Currently working as a sports photographer, Rebecca hopes to take those skills into her teaching career as well - fostering minds which can be both analytical and creative!

“Math and science may get a bad reputation by students, but I have seen kids completely change their mind about a certain subject in just a few good lessons. Sometimes it takes more work for students to really grasp material, but the moment the light bulb goes off in their heads makes all the hard work well worth it.”
Anthony Felder, Public Relations
A junior majoring in Mathematics with an expected graduation date of May 2022, Anthony joined GeauxTeach because of his desire to teach. To do so, he knew he would have to get his teaching certificate and was intrigued by the opportunity to get both his degree and his teaching certificate at the same time. He chose Math as his major because of his ease with the subject as well as his encounters with math teachers throughout school. Anthony is involved in many other student organizations, and takes time to tutor students of all ages.
