Student Parking Permit

Any student bringing a vehicle to campus must have a permit whether it is for the day, the semester, or the academic year. While parking rules and regulations are enforced Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. Permits are required at all hours on weekdays, day and night.

Permit Descriptions

Permit Type Details
Annual This permit type is valid for a single academic year (i.e. August 2019 through August 2020) (Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters). 
Semester This permit type is valid for a single academic semester (i.e. August 2019 through December 2019). 
Monthly A monthly temporary permit valid for thirty (30) days from date of purchase (i.e. July 1, 2019 to August 1, 2019)
Weekly A weekly temporary permit is valid for five (5) business days from date of purchase. (i.e. July 1, 2019  to July 7, 2019)
Daily  A daily temporary permit is valid from midnight on day of purchase to 11:59 p.m. on the date of purchase. 

 

Student Permit Types

  • Commuter - available to students living off campus only.
  • Resident - available to students living on campus in a residence hall or in East Campus or West Campus Apartments (ECA or WCA).
  • Nicholson Gateway - avaiable to students living on campus in the Nicholson Gateway Apartments. 
    • Spouse permits**: Additional $40 per year or semester [i.e. Annual ($165) + Spouse ($40) = $205; Semester ($80) + Spouse ($40) = $120]
  • Edward Gay - available to students living on campus in the Edward Gay Apartments.
    • Spouse permits**: Additional $40 per year or semester [i.e. Annual ($165) + Spouse ($40) = $205; Semester ($80) + Spouse ($40) = $120]
  • Greek - available to students living within a sorority or fraternity house only.
  • Law - available to students enrolled in the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center only.
  • U-High - available to students attend the University Lab School only.
  • Motorcycle - available to students who drive a motorcycle or moped to campus only. ($40 per year if a vehicle parking permit is NOT purchased; Complimentary if vehicle parking permit is purchased)
  • Union Square Garage - available on a first come, first sale basis to all students. Permits for the Union Square Garage are specific for that reserved area and all other parking will be restricted during the hours of zone parking.

When Is Registration Open?

  • Permits will begin mailing August 9, 2019 

*Please ensure your home mailing address is up-to-date on your myLSU account. (Personal Preferences > Directory Information). Lost or misdirected mail is not the responsibility of Parking & Transportation Services.*

  •  I missed the deadline for my permit to be mailed:
    • You may still add a parking permit through the Parking Portal, but must come to the Parking & Transportation Services office or other on-campus location to pick it up. Please bring some form of ID (LSU ID or driver’s license) when picking up parking permit. Our office is located in the Audubon Sugar Institute Building on 254 South Stadium Drive.
  • I do not want my permit mailed:
    • Select “Pick up” option when purchasing permit.
    • You must come into the Parking & Transportation Services office or other on-campus location before the grace period ends to pick up your parking permit. Please bring some form of ID (LSU ID or driver’s license) when picking up parking permit. Our office is located in the Audubon Sugar Institute Building on 254 South Stadium Drive.

How Do I Register?

*Please be aware that when you purchase a permit you will be required to enter your license plate number. LSU is implementing new technology that will require adding the license plate number of the vehicle being registered to park on campus. Please ensure you correctly enter the license plate number of the primary vehicle you will be using on campus.*

Step 1: Visit this link - https://lsu.t2hosted.com/Account/Portal 

Step 2: Scroll down to “Permits” section. Click “Get Permits” button.

Step 3: The Customer Authentication login screen should appear. Click “Affiliated Login” button.

Step 4: The myLSU login screen should appear. Log in to your myLSU account.

Step 5: The “Purchase a Permit” screen should appear on Parking Portal site. Click “Next.”

Step 6: Select the permit you wish to purchase. Be sure to agree to the Parking Handbook Terms and Conditions. Then Click “Next.”

Step 7: You may register up to two vehicles. Fill out all vehicle information.

Step 8: Select the vehicle that you want to use with your permit.

Step 9: Select a delivery option: Your mailing address on file in myLSU or Pick Up.

Step 10: Review your order. Select your method of payment. Click “Pay Now” to proceed with your transaction. Payment Method Options: American Express, Discover, MasterCard, Visa, or External Payment Plan – Fee Bill/Billing Statement

 

Frequently Asked Q&A:

  • Am I required to upload my registration information?
    • No, you are not required to upload your registration information. This is an option that helps with quickly identifying your vehicle.
  • My license plate number will be changing. will I be able to update this in the Parking Portal?
    • Yes, you can change your license plate number in the Parking Portal at any time.
  • I purchased the wrong type of permit. What should I do and how can this be corrected?
    • In the event that you purchased the wrong type of permit, please contact the Parking Office at 225-578-5000 and our team will work to correct your permit.
  • I would like to select pick-up as my preferred option to receive my permit but I can't select it. How can I pick-up my permit?
    • Our team is aware that pick-up is not currently an option and we are actively working with our vendor to resolve this issue. Our social media accounts will be updated when this has been resolved. Please continue to check back for updates. Stay posted for pick-up locations!
  • I checked out with a test permit. How can I make sure I received my correct permit?
    • If you checked out with a test permit during the temporary opening of the Parking Portal, these permits are not valid. Do not attempt to check out with another permit. Please email parking@lsu.edu and our team will reach out once your valid permit is assigned.
  • What should I do if my mailing address is not updated?
    • Permits will begin to be mailed on August 9, 2019. Please ensure your correct address has been updated through your MyLSU account no later than August 1, 2019 before you check out. If you update your account after that time or check out before changing your address, email parking@lsu.edu and our team will update your account.
  • I will be living on campus and need a Residential permit, but I don't see that as an option. What should I do?
    • If you need a Residential permit but do not see it as an option, please reach out to reslife@lsu.edu to ensure that you have been assigned housing. Residential Life will need to email parking@lsu.edu to confirm. Once confirmed, our team will assign you the correct permit.
  • I will be living on campus and need a Greek permit, but i don't see that as an option. What should i do?
    • If you need a Greek permit but do not see it as an option, please reach out to greeks@lsu.edu to ensure that you have been assigned housing. Greek Life will need to email parking@lsu.edu to confirm. Once confirmed, our team will assign you the correct permit.
  • I checked out and am now in a pending status. What does this mean and what should I do?
    • If your permit transaction is showing in a pending status, our team is in the process of canceling the pending transactions. Once you notice the pending transaction has dropped from your account, you may proceed  with purchasing the permit again. The clearing of these transactions could take up to 48 hours for our team to fully process.
