Upcoming NIH and eRA Commons Changes

Dear NIH Investigators,

The Office of Sponsored Programs wanted to bring to your attention several changes occurring with NIH that will affect proposal submissions in the upcoming months:

  1. Beginning September 15, 2021, NIH will require Two-Factor Authentication to access eRA Commons via Login.gov for scientific accounts.  See Two-Factor Authentication: Access eRA Modules via login.gov for instructions for setting up the two-factor authentication.  It is strongly recommended that you do this prior to September 15th.
  2. Beginning January 25, 2022, NIH will require all individuals listed on the R&R Senior/Key Person Profile of a proposal to have an eRA Commons username.  If you do not have an eRA Commons account, you can request one by filling out the NIH eRA Commons Account Request Form.  We also recommend that you update your GeauxGrants My Profile to include your eRA Commons ID for future submissions.  See Updating My Profile and Home Screen Customization for step-by-step instructions.
  3. Beginning January 25, 2022, NIH will require the use of new templates for the Biographical Sketch and Other Support pages.  See the following for more information:
