Kathleen “Keeny” joined the COMD Clinical Faculty in the fall of 2019, as a Clinical Faculty Member at the LSU Speech, Language, Hearing Clinic. She has extensive experience in evaluation and treatment of the pediatric population with a variety of disorders, including Autism, Apraxia, Developmental Disorders, Neurological disorders, Hearing disorders, Feeding & Swallowing Disorders, and Fluency disorders. Keeny has been an active member of multidisciplinary teams in the public school system, rehabilitation units, and in private clinics. She also has experience with the adult population in the areas of dysphagia (including videoflouroscopy), cognition, aphasia, fluency, and dysarthria. She currently supervises the Preschool Language Program at Launch Therapy Center for children with developmental delays. She also supervises therapeutic intervention at the LSU Speech, Language, Hearing Clinic for children who have a variety of speech sound disorders and language disorders (including Aural Rehabilitation/ Cochlear Implants) as well as children and adults who exhibit fluency disorders. She is certified in the Picture-Exchange Communication System (PECS) as a low tech AAC communication system. Her current interests include: language development, PECS, auditory processing and aural rehabilitation, speech sound disorders, apraxia, autism, fluency, & sensory processing disorders.
