Awards & Scholarships
SLIS Graduate Assistantships
Students will be notified whenever a SLIS Graduate Assistantship becomes available. Recipients must be able to come to the SLIS offices on the LSU campus during normal business hours and available to work 20 hours per week. The assistantships include a tuition remission and a stipend per fiscal year. Out-of-state students who are awarded a graduate assistantship are also granted a nonresident fee exemption.
SLIS Travel Awards
SLIS provides a limited number of awards to help to defray the costs of travel to conferences and other professional meetings. Information can be found at SLIS Travel Awards.
SLIS Scholarships
SLIS awards scholarships each fall. Students will be notified when the scholarship application program has opened.
Applicants must have completed at least six hours of SLIS courses and have an overall GPA of at least 3.0.
The SLIS scholarships are listed below, categorized by requirements for eligibility. Please note that Scholarship amounts will vary from year to year. The amounts displayed below are based on scholarship amounts given during the last fiscal year.
