SLIS Travel Awards
A limited number of awards are available to SLIS students to help defray the costs of travel to conferences and other professional meetings. Students must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and be enrolled in classes during the semester in which travel will occur. Proof of conference registration must be provided before funds will be dispersed.
SLIS Student Travel Fund
The SLIS Student Travel Fund provides a maximum of $500 to a student who is presenting a poster or paper at a conference or professional meeting. To apply, submit proof of acceptance by the conference or meeting and a 500 word essay explaining the ways in which attendance will benefit your academic and/or professional career to Ms. Nicole Rozas at nrozas@lsu.edu. Proof of conference registration must be provided before funds will be dispersed.
SLIS Frank & Margaret McEntee Travel Fellowship Fund
The SLIS Frank & Margaret McEntee Travel Fellowship Fund provides a maximum of $500 to a student who is attending the ALA Annual Conference. Recipients should have a career goal of public library service, including adult services or youth services. To apply, submit a 500-word essay explaining the ways in which attendance will benefit your academic and/or professional career to Ms. Nicole Rozas at nrozas@lsu.edu. Proof of conference registration must be provided before funds will be dispersed.
Beth M. Paskoff Award
The Beth M. Paskoff Award provides a maximum of $500 to a student making a presentation at a regional or national conference. To apply, submit proof of acceptance by the conference and a 500-word essay explaining the ways in which attendance will benefit your academic and/or professional career to Ms. Nicole Rozas at nrozas@lsu.edu. Proof of conference registration must be provided before funds will be dispersed.
Graduate Student Association Travel Award
The Graduate School manages the Graduate Student Association (GSA) Travel Award. This award provides reimbursement of approved travel expenses to qualified students who attend widely recognized, professional conferences to present the results of their research.
