Benjamin Wisniewski, Kinesiology Junior, Interns at Johns Hopkins
Baton Rouge, LA - LSU School of Kinesiology junior Benjamin Wisniewski spent last summer as an intern at Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Brady Urological Institute and Greenberg Bladder Cancer Institute. in Baltimore, Md. Working alongside doctoral students, Wisniewski assisted in running experiments for dissertation projects and completed various experiments in ongoing studies.
The New Orleans native was drawn to the position to gain hands-on lab and research
experience in a hospital as prestigious as the Johns Hopkins.
“The opportunities this type of research offered were immense, and I am lucky to have been able to participate in them,” says Wisniewski.
Wisniewski says his LSU coursework and experiences prepared him well to secure and succeed at the competitive internship.
During his time at Hopkins, Wisniewski used his kinesiology background to collaborate
with his lab partners to prepare oral presentations that explained their research.
In addition, because LSU campus labs had given him experience with high-tech equipment,
Wisniewski had the technical skills to contribute the Hopkins team. He received positive
feedback from lab members, physicians and staff at Johns Hopkins.
Wisniewski is appreciative to the Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins to
spend the summer in a great environment with endless opportunity to learn new skills.
After graduation, he plans to attend medical school to become a military physician.
