Biography

Dr. Yizhou Qian (pronounced YEE-joh CHI-en; go by Dr. Q) is an Assistant Professor of Sport Management in the School of Kinesiology at Louisiana State University. His research applies quantitative and qualitative techniques to problems in consumer behavior and marketing. His recent research focuses on the intersection of sports and technology including the application of social live streaming (SLS) and gamification in the context of esports and professional sports. He also investigates how sporting events and online esports tournaments could be effectively managed to stimulate consumption behavior and improve the well-being of underrepresented consumer groups such as women.

Dr. Qian's research has been prominently featured in a variety of sport management journals, including Sport Management Review, European Sport Management Quarterly, Communication and Sport, International Journal of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship, and International Journal of Sport Communication. His work also extends to interdisciplinary platforms, appearing in well-regarded journals such as Journal of Business Research, Telematics and Informatics, Frontiers in Psychology, and Sustainability.

Dr. Qian also serves on the editorial board for International Journal of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship, Communication & Sport, Journal of Electronic Gaming and Esports, and Journal of Amateur Sport.
