Dual Certification General/Special Education (Grades 1-5)

The Dual Certification program is an eight-semester program of study that allows students to graduate with two certifications. Candidates can complete the five-course minor in special education in addition to their respective program coursework. It allows you to stand out to school principals who will offer you your first job upon graduation.

Early Childhood Education

The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education is recognized by NAEYC and is designed with the organization's professional preparation standards in mind. Teacher candidates can choose either Birth to Kindergarten Teacher Certification or Pre-Kindergarten to Third Grade Teacher Certification. By the time you finish your degree, you will have accrued experience across birth through 3rd grade, including working with children with exceptionalities.

Elementary Grades Education (Grades 1-5)

The Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education is a four-year program that provides students with a broad academic background and the skills necessary for teachers of elementary children in grades 1-5. Choosing a career in elementary education means that you will have the opportunity to help develop world-changers, truth-seekers, and critical thinkers and to teach them to explore their love of learning.

Human Development & Family Science

The Bachelor of Science in Human Development & Family Science degree at LSU is an exciting integration of theory, research, and practice focused on children and families. Students learn how humans develop physically, emotionally, cognitively, and socially throughout the lifespan in the context of the family, and they develop an applied lens that prepares them for a diverse variety of rewarding professional tracks. The HDFS degree program provides students with the knowledge and expertise to shape interesting and impactful careers serving individuals, families, and communities. Senior-level courses have an applied focus, and students engage in hands-on service-learning opportunities and two field internships which equip them to improve the lives of individuals and families.

Kinesiology

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology is the study of human movement and the practice of helping people understand how their body performs, how to maintain proper physical health, and how to maximize their body's potential.

Exercise Science & Human Performance

The Exercise Science & Human Performance concentration is designed for students interested in careers related to health and human performance.

Career opportunities: personal training, strength and conditioning, corporate wellness as well as hospital, government, and community-based fitness settings

Health & Physical Education (Grades K-12)

The Health & Physical Education concentration leads to certification for teaching in Louisiana and most other states. Students will be prepared to teach grades K-12 in physical education and health as well as coach in a variety of settings.

Career opportunities: K-12 physical education and/or health teacher and sports coach

Human Movement Science

The Human Movement Science program is designed for students pursuing entrance into various medically related fields.

Career opportunities: occupational therapy school, physical therapy school, physician’s assistant programs, dental and medical schools

Physical Activity & Health

The Physical Activity and Health concentration is designed for students interested in areas of study such as physical activity behaviors, community health and wellness, mental health, drug and alcohol education, global health, healthy lifestyles, health advocacy, social determinants of health, and special populations.

Career opportunities: government agencies (local, state, regional, or federal), health communications, hospitals and clinics, non-profit health organizations (e.g., American Heart Association), medical sales, universities, and volunteer agencies

Pre-Athletic Training

The Pre-Athletic Training concentration at LSU is a limited admissions program designed to prepare students for a successful career as a highly qualified health care professional.

Leadership & Human Resource Development

Leadership & Human Resource Development

The Bachelor of Science in Leadership & Human Resource Development gives undergraduates the knowledge and skills to help organizations develop their people to meet the challenge of change. Our students learn how to make the people, the human capital in organizations, more agile, prepare the workforce for change, connect and re-energize people with their work, and increase workforce flexibility. You will earn recognition as a human capital professional capable of conducting data-driven analysis; engaging with organizational leaders; identifying, implementing, and leading innovative solutions to organizational performance issues; and functioning as a strategic partner in helping organizations reach their goals.

Online Leadership & Human Resource Development

Career opportunities: human performance improvement consultant, corporate trainer, human resource manager, management consultant, organizational development and training coordinator, talent development specialist, chief learning officer

Social Work

The Bachelor of Social Work degree is designed to prepare students for entry level careers in social service agencies, school, corrections/criminal justice, and other community agencies. This degree will also prepare students who wish to pursue graduate studies in social work. Outstanding BSW students may receive the equivalent of one-year academic credit in an MSW program, cutting their time to completion of the master’s degree in half.

Students graduating from the BSW program bring knowledge of evidence-based practices and critical thinking, communication, analytical, and research skills to front-line social work jobs throughout the state of Louisiana.

Sport Administration

The Bachelor of Science in Sport Administration is designed to give students an opportunity to learn the fundamentals behind managing the complex and ever-changing sport industry. This is done by incorporating the latest curricular advancements, instituting best practices from industry experts, and harnessing industry experience within the classroom. Students take courses in marketing strategies in the sport industry, organizing and administering sport events, managing sport facilities, understanding legal and ethical issues in sport, and more. Students gain practical experience through practicum experiences and an internship.
