LSU’s Stephenson Technologies Corporation Awarded $10 Million for Cybersecurity Work

LSU’s Stephenson Technologies Corporation has received a $10 million award from the U.S. Department of Defense’s Air Force Research Laboratory to help local small businesses proactively and actionably defend themselves against cyber attacks.

Small businesses are essential to local and regional economies -- but are at the receiving end of nearly half of all cyber-related crime. Even a moderately sophisticated attack can be disastrous for a small business, which in turn can weaken the local economy and the overall resilience of an industry sector or region.

LSU Doctoral Student Developing New Hurricane Modeling Capabilities

LSU Ph.D. student Felix Santiago-Collazo is working to fix a problem that affected his family and his home, Puerto Rico, as well as all of us in southern Louisiana: the strength and impact of a hurricane. He is developing a computer model that can predict both rainfall runoff and storm surge. This new representation will demonstrate a more realistic flood zone that would help policy makers and locals avoid disaster.
