Accounting major Hayden Livaudais has been awarded a $10,000 scholarship from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).
In recognition of their academic accomplishments, the Department of Accounting awarded scholarships to 37 students.
BATON ROUGE – A team of six E. J. Ourso College of Business accounting students will advance to compete in Deloitte’s national 2021 Audit Innovation Campus Challenge (AICC). The LSU team is one of 12 teams, out of 52 colleges and universities, selected for the national competition. The team was represented by James Clement of Saint Francisville, La.; Eric Diaz-Miranda of Gonzales, La.; Keyanna Harkless of Saint Cloud, Fla.; Rebecca Parsons of Shreveport, La.; Madison Shaffer of Metairie, La.; and Darrion Wiley of Baton Rouge, La.

BATON ROUGE – LSU has named Jared Llorens as the dean of the E. J. Ourso College of Business. Llorens was appointed as interim dean in July 2020 after the initial search for the next dean was paused earlier this year due to the Novel Coronavirus pandemic.
BATON ROUGE- E. J. Ourso College of Business PhD alumna Linda Nichols was recently named the new dean of the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Nichols was previously the dean of the Collins College of Business at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma. She joined the Tulsa faculty in 2011 as associate dean, director of Graduate Business Programs, and an accounting professor.
BATON ROUGE- Recent E. J. Ourso College of Business graduate, and Baton Rouge native, Kylie Cronin, was awarded a $10,000 scholarship from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) . Last May, Cronin graduated in three years from LSU with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and she is now interning with PwC in Houston this summer. Cronin will begin LSU’s Master of Accountancy Program (MAcc) in the fall.
BATON ROUGE- E. J. Ourso College of Business’s Department of Accounting recently named its 2020 faculty award recipients. Associate Professor Paddy Sivadasan was presented with the Outstanding Teacher Award and Assistant Professor Stephanie Walton with the Brenner Research Award.

LSU Accounting Alumnus Doyle Z. Williams will be inducted into The Accounting Hall of Fame by the American Accounting Association (AAA) in August 2020, during the organization's Annual Meeting in Atlanta. Williams earned his PhD in accounting from LSU in 1965 and was inducted in the E. J. Ourso College of Business Hall of Distinction in 2007 and into the LSU Hall of Distinction in 2014.
LSU professors Charlene Henderson and Thomas Phillips Jr. are preparing students for technological disruption in business with the Tax Analytics course.

Nancy Cannon Reed, CPA and 1990 LSU Accounting Alumna was recently invited by the Financial Accounting Standard Board (FASB) in Norwalk, CT to serve as a formal participant and speaker at the public roundtable meeting on the Invitation to Comment, Identifiable Intangible Assets and Subsequent Accounting for Goodwill, to be held Friday, Nov. 15, 2019.

BATON ROUGE - Rajesh P. Narayanan has been selected as the new associate dean for academic affairs and outreach in the Office of the Dean at the E. J. Ourso College of Business. Timothy Chandler, who previously held the position, has been named associate dean for undergraduate programs and assessment. Narayanan is also the chair of the E. J. Ourso College of Business’s Department of Finance and he will continue that role for the next year.
Richard D. White Jr. will step down as dean of the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business at the end of this academic year.

Accounting major Vivian Carter of Homer, LA has been awarded a $10,000 scholarship from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). The PCAOB Scholarship Program awards funds to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an accounting degree program at a regionally accredited U.S. college or university. The Program is merit-based and awarded to select students who demonstrate interest and aptitude in accounting and auditing while maintaining and demonstrating high ethical standards.
Baton Rouge – Laura D. Wiley, PhD, CPA, assistant department chair and senior instructor in the Department of Accounting, has co-authored Auditing: A Practical Approach with Data Analytics with Raymond Johnson, an Oregon CPA who teaches auditing concepts and practices and financial statement analysis at Portland State University. According to the publisher’s website, the textbook “prepares students for the rapidly changing demands of the auditing profession by meeting the data-driven requirements of today’s workforce,” adding “this course uses a practical, case-based approach to help students develop professional judgment, think critically about the auditing process, and develop the decision-making skills necessary to perform a real-world audit.”
BATON ROUGE – The University hosted its inaugural celebration to honor LSU faculty who received promotion and tenure effective next academic year. The professional milestones the honorees reached outstanding accomplishments in teaching, research, and service for which LSU is known. Six LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business faculty were awarded promotion and tenure.
BIRMINGHAM, AL – Out of 37 LSU student-athletes named to the 2018-19 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll, 10 of them are E. J. Ourso College of Business students. The 2018-19 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll is based on grades posted from the 2018 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
The 2019 Fraud and Forensic Accounting Conference will be held July 17-18, at the Crowne Plaza, 4728 Constitution Ave., Baton Rouge. This conference is sponsored by the Department of Accounting in the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business.
BATON ROUGE – SEC Professor of the Year Gabriela González delivered the keynote address, and LSU graduated its largest and most diverse class ever at the university’s 298th commencement exercises on Friday, May 10. At the spring commencement ceremony, a record 4,442 degrees were awarded. The overall class of 2018-19 – students receiving degrees in previous summer and fall commencements combined with the current spring commencement – saw 7,047 degrees awarded, the highest in any academic year ever.
LSU has recognized 28 students as the Class of 2019 for Leadership LSU, an annual spring program which is coordinated by LSU Campus Life on behalf of the LSU Office of the Dean of Students.

The LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business inducted Marcela Donadio, Robert Schneckenburger and Jeff Zehnder into its Hall of Distinction at a banquet held Business Education Complex on Friday, March 22.
Baton Rouge – Sanaz Aghazadeh, PhD, an assistant professor in the Department of Accounting, was awarded the Best Midyear Meeting Paper Award by the American Accounting Association at their 2019 Auditing Midyear Meeting in January 2019. Aghazadeh’s paper, Revealing Oz: Audit Firm Partners’ Experiences with National Office Consultations, finds that the audit firm national office identity has shifted in recent years toward a more user-friendly entity that collaborates closely with engagement teams and also includes clients in consultations.

Ourso College of Business Department of Accounting will host its annual Regional Research Conference Friday, March 1, 2019, in the Business Education Complex with Bharat Sarath, PhD, as this year’s speaker. Accounting faculty from colleges throughout Louisiana are invited to attend.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A team from LSU’s Diversity and Inclusion in the Office of Business Student Success placed runner-up at the 2019 National Diversity Case Competition (NDCC) at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. The competition is held annually the weekend before Martin Luther King Jr. Day and brings together some of the best and most diverse talent in undergraduate education from across the country. This was the eighth year for the event, which took place Jan. 18-19. Nearly 170 business students from 42 teams competed – up from 35 teams last year.

Ourso College of Business’ Department of Accounting for excellence in combating securities and commodities fraud. Professor Larry Crumbley was also recognized as an expert in the field.

BATON ROUGE – The LSU E. J. Ourso College ranked 108th overall in the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Undergraduate Business Programs” rankings released earlier this month. This year’s ranking places the college in the top quarter of all business schools and is a slight increase from the college’s 109th ranking in 2017.
