Your ePortfolio is a website that effectively communicates your work and skills as they relate to your post-graduation goals. It’s an ideal tool to use as you are seeking internships, scholarships, jobs, and/or admission to grad school. A strong ePortfolio immediately sets you apart from other students, which is one reason it is part of your Distinguished Communicator certification. Whether your ePortfolio currently consists of a blank page or you are close to a final draft, this workshop is for you! We’ll review the basics of good portfolios and work with you to do some hands-on building/editing, so join us!

Dinner and Discussion: Global Communication Considerations Here and Away

This dinner panel session gives you the opportunity to connect with fellow students who have studied or traveled abroad as well as professionals working in various international arenas. Come for the free dinner, stay for the conversation! This is your moment to ask all your questions about the logistics, the communication tips and the human follies associated with working and living as a global citizen. Seating is limited, so RSVP now. This event is cosponsored by LSU Communication across the Curriculum and LSU Residential Colleges.

Communication across the Curriculum invites you join Dr. Beverly Brooks Thompson, of Brooks Thompson Consulting, to learn the keys to successfully starting a professional conversation, maintaining a productive conversation, and managing professional etiquette in high stakes and/or unfamiliar arenas. This is an ideal workshop for students preparing for law school networking opportunities, but any individual embarking on professional networking, in a variety of fields, will come away with valuable tools.

Real-World Writers Panel: Are writing skills relevant to my future career?

If you’ve ever found yourself asking this question, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and Communication across the Curriculum invites you to seek answers at the Real-World Writers Panel. During this one-hour event, guest speakers from a variety of professional fields, including law, engineering, and social service will discuss the role of writing and research in their careers.

Students who attend the panel will walk away with the following:

  • A clear picture of writing skills required for professional success.
  • Writing advice from three accomplished professionals.
  • A better understanding of how advancing your writing skills can improve your job prospects after college.
